An Angel From Hell

I read the book An Angel From Hell by Ryan Conklin. In the book Ryan joins the US Army at the young age of twenty in 2007. Ryan is deployed to Tikrit, Iraq. Ryan was in Angel company at multiple FOB's. After he left the Army he went on to The Real World and was redeployed in 2010. Even though the book was on a serious topic it had funny moments in it and was full of action. Ryan told the story how it was supposed to be told full of grit, honor, and the effects of war on a person's sanity. I would recommend this book to a person who likes action and wants to see the war how it actually is or wants to join themselves. I would personally give this book a 9.5/10 its a fun read and will keep you reading.

Someday Dancer By: Sarah Rubin

Will Casey get into the School of American Ballet in New York City?

I am only about 90 pages into my book Someday Dancer.  This book is very interesting and really knows how to pull you into it. Casey Quinn is a poor girl from South Carolina who loves to dance but can't afford the dance lessons. She lives with her mother and grandmother and they are just making it by. Casey really wants to audition for the School of American Ballet, but doesn't know if she is cut out to make it. She arrives in New York City and is about to audition. Can a small town girl make it in the Big Apple? I will have to continue to read to find out what happens.

I rate this book 9/10 so far.

A Crooked Kind Of Perfect

By: Linda Urban

Zoe Elias has always wanted to be a pianist. Her dream is to be a famous piano player and play at Carnegie Hall. Her dad has always known that she wanted to be a pianist. Due to this, her dad bought her The Perfectone  D-60 organ. She wasn’t happy about her father’s purchase because what she really wanted was a piano, not an organ. This organ came with free lessons for 6 months from Mabelline Person. Zoe was more than excited when she found out!! After the first couple of lessons, Mrs. Person realized that Zoe had a true talent at the piano, so she entered her in the Perform-O-Rama. As Zoe kept practicing, she was doubting her ability to play the organ. She wanted to quit. After listening to a radio station that was interviewing young musicians, Zoe has realized that she should stay with this instrument and maybe someday she will be interviewed. With many weeks of continuous practicing, Zoe started to feel more and more confident with her piece. After things went wrong with Zoe and her mom, Zoe's mom can no longer drive her to the Perform-O-Rama. Zoe is scared she won’t be able to make it, so her dad drives her knowing that she really wants to perform. Her first performance didn’t go as well as she hoped for, but during her second performance she looked up and saw her mom with her dad. This had motivated Zoe, and she ended up going home with a 4th place trophy!
This book wasn't one of the best books that I have read, but it was a good one. This book has taught me that if there is something you have worked really hard on, you shouldn't give up no matter how stressful it may be. If Zoe were to quit playing the organ, she would have never came home with a 4th place trophy. This achievement is one step closer to her dream of playing at Carnegie Hall.

Perfect Chemistry By: Simone Elkeles

A few weeks ago I read the book Perfect Chemistry. Brittany is a rich, perfect, popular girl who has everything she could ever possibly want.  Her mother, however, expects so much of Brittany.  She expects her to be perfect.  She has to have the perfect clothes, the perfect attitude, the perfect friends, and of course the perfect boyfriend.  If any of these things are out of order, her mother will be sure to correct them.  Brittany may seem perfect on the outside, on the inside, however, she just wants to be like everybody else.  She doesn't want to be perfect.she wants to live a normal life without having to worry about her mothers opinion.
Alejandro, or better known as Alex, is part of a gang know as the Latino Blood.  According to Alex, it is not something you want to be a part of.  He makes it very clear to his younger brothers that they cannot be getting involved with Latino Blood. After all,  he did only join the gang to make sure his brothers didn't have to.  Alex does not have the perfect life.  He lives in a small, cramped house with his mother and his two brothers.  He doesn't care about his appearance unlike Brittany.
Since Brittany is from the north side and Alex is from the south side, they have no intention of being around each other.  However, when Alex makes a bet with one of his gang friends that he can have a relationship with Brittany, all Alex wants to do is be around Brittany. So, will Alex and Brittany wind up together? You will have to read the book to find out.

The Outstretched Shadow; The Obsidian Trilogy Book 1 ©

ssss
17-year old Kellen Tavadon should have the perfect life. He lives in the great human city of Armethalieh, which is ruled by powerful mages. He is even the son of the Arch Mage Lycaelon Tavadon, the most powerful mage in the whole city. And yet... he's not happy. All he's ever wanted is to gain his father's love. But he can't seem to gain even that, no matter how hard he tries. But this all changes when he finds three books of magic that seem to hide their appearance to anyone else. The Wild Magic in these books is different from the High Magick that he has learned his entire life. It takes less preparation, but it also has a "Price" that must be paid for each spell. And... it's forbidden. Will Kellen keep the books or throw them away? Will his father find out? Find out what happens in The Outstretched Shadow.

The Outstretched Shadow is a fantasy book filled with magic, elves, demons, unicorns, and other magical topics. Although that might seem childish, I quite enjoyed this book and the rest of the series. I recommend The Outstretched Shadow and the Obsidian Trilogy to anyone who likes fantasy books like it.

I rate this book 8/10.

Next week's review: To Light a Candle, Book 2 of the Obsidian Trilogy.

The Amanda Project

I just started the book The Amanda Project by Amanda Alentine and Melissa Kantor. It's very confusing in the beginning but than becomes clear after the first couple pages. Amanda , the main characters, has gone missing and only left behinde a few clues to find her and to understand why she left. She brings three friends into her mess Callie, Hal, and Nia, but Amanda didnt tell them about each other. They have to work togtether to solve the mystery. So far, this book has really held me in and makes me want to read more. Can't wait!!

The Titan's Curse (Week 1)

250px-The_titan's_curse.jpg Gods and goddeses. The main theme for this action-packed page turner. Percy Jackson, son of the lightning god Zeus, must once again battle through mythical creatures and monsters. The entire book is magical but to Percy it is all too real. And when Percy and his friends find out about two new and powerful half-bloods(1 parent is mortal, 1 is a god), Nico and Bianca ,whose parents are unknown, they race to the rescue. And now, Percy must go back to the place that he started, Camp Half-Blood. And with Bianca gone, the stakes are even higher to get Nico back to camp. Great book so far in the third adventure of the Percy Jackson series. Can Percy face the chilling prophecy of the Titan's Curse?
*Great book for myth lovers or action lovers. I reccomend reading books 1 and 2 first.

Product DetailsI'll admit it. Several years ago a students gave me a copy of Hush Hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick. It was about the time Twilight was the rage and hit the big screen. She said this would be the book to turn me from vampires and to fallen angels. Well, she was right. Luckily the sequel, Crescendo appeared a few weeks later. I devoured that one. In the bookstore the other day my wandering eye spied Finale, aptly named as this is the third and final book in the trilogy. Though I did not enjoy this fourth book as much as the other two, it did have some interesting plot twists in the end. Some things I really never saw coming.*** I just found out there's four books! How did I miss that? Sigh...off to the library.

There were some things that really bugged me that may have hampered my reading pleasure. The main thing was Nora, the main character, was never in school. How did no one notice that? In the first two books her mother is portrayed as someone who can be rather strict. So what happened to her in Finale? Nora was always training or meeting or fighting or disappearing with Patch during the school day. There is one mention of her grades falling, but she's a junior. You're telling me NO ONE was on to her? That's just not realistic, though I understand why the author ignored it.

Anyone who thinks the Twilight series is "to die for" will be even more engrossed in this series. It's much better written, in general, and has characters much the same. Actually, in some ways the basic plot is also the same but no one glitters or transforms into animals. Check it out!
