To Light a Candle is the 2nd installment in the Obsidian Trilogy. I feel that it is even better than The Outstretched Shadow, which is book one. I feel this because the book has more action, more suspense, and just seems overall more colorful. More characters and plot twists have been added, such as dragons (as you can see from the cover) and other creatures.
I rate this book 8.5/10.

To Light a Candle picks up right where The Outstretched Shadow left off. Kellen has achieved the goal of freeing the elves from drought by destroying the magical barrier set up by the evil Demons. On the way, he has finally discovered his true purpose as a Knight-Mage. And in To Light a Candle, he further strengthens his abilities while learning more about himself.
Most of this book consists of the elves preparing for war, gathering armies, and the armies marching through the elven lands. However, Kellen has a feeling that the Demons don't plan on meeting them in force; he suspects that they want to win through subtle acts this time. And one of these "subtle acts" has been that the Demons have been breeding something new in the caves of the elven lands... What is this new threat? Read To Light a Candle to find out.
I recommend this book for anyone who liked The Outstretched Shadow.
