Choose A Line~ The Host

I am currently reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. This book is very intense. It goes through romance, loss, and violence. It's about the planet Earth being invaded by these souls. The souls take over the lives of the human beings and control what they do. They occupy other planets and are still in the process of Earth. There are groups of human residence everywhere that fight back. They hide from the souls and try to kill them. A girl, Melanie Stryder, is captured and a soul takes over her body. She is a very strong person so her mind stays with her. She still has power over her soul, Wanda. Her boyfriend, Jared, and brother, Jamie, lover her so much that the thought of having a soul in her body hurts them too much. They don't think it is possible to still be alive while a soul is occupying your body. They try to find a way to save her.
" 'Who did this to you?' he pressed. With a hesitant finger, he almost touched the side of my neck. I held still, feeling no urge to cringe away from this hand.....Jamie waited for a moment, then turned back to me with the same intense expression. 'You're not Melanie, but you know all her memories and stuff, right?'.....'Then you remembered what happened to her?'.....'It's not pleasant,' I breathed.....I recoiled from the memory of pain, and Jamie's face went white under his tan." (pg 166-167)
I chose this section of the book because it really portrays emotion. It shows her brother devastated over how her sister has a soul in her and it shows how Wanda cares for Jamie even though she is a soul and she is not supposed to. I like it because it has a very sensitive feel to it. "Jamie's face went white under his tan" shows how he reacts to finding out how Melanie died. He cares for her and is shocked that she died and he has no one else. After that, Wanda felt really bad as if she cares for the humans. The image that I see is a little boy pale in the face crying and a girl who is concerned and sympathetic towards him.
So far I rate this book a 10/10.

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

This week I started reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I'm not very far into the book, but I can already connect this book to another book I have read. This book has a few similarities and differences to the book Twilight.
The Host is about a girl that gets taken away and her body is used as a host. It is an alien type book. This girl has to try to stop these aliens from taking over every human body. When you are used as a host, you don't know it. Your whole mind changes. Twilight is about a vampire and a girl falling in love. This book is more vampires. This vampire tries so hard to make sure that the girl he loves stays safe. When there are very thirsty vampires roaming the world, it is very hard to stay away from them.  You need to be protected if you want to live. The books are somewhat different.
These two books are also similar in certain ways. They are written by the same author so they relate in some ways. Both of these books are types of sci-fi books, meaning that they contain non-realistic characters. They both have a romantic plot line and a violent, live or die plot line. One more way they are similar is the way Stephenie Meyer describes the details of things. It is very descriptive and it is like you are actually there. I really like Stephenie Meyer as an author and how she is very fluent with her writing.
I chose this connection because both the books are written by the same author. There is nothing better then connecting to books together by the same person. It shows a person what the author is capable of and if she only writes the same genre. I think Stephenie Myer is really into writing about sci-fi. It is very important for an author to have connections in the books that he/she has written. I really enjoyed reading these two books. I think The Host is one of the best books I have read. This book is a bit challenging, but I recommend it to people who enjoy sci-fi. I rate this book a 10/10.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

The book I am reading is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. It is a really good book.
Noah is a little lost at this point in the book. It has been about ten years since his summer with Allie. Allie left after the summer and he had no one really in his life except his dad. He dated a few woman but no one made his as happy as Allie did. They reminded him of her though. Will he ever see her again?
Allie was devastated when she left him. It took her a long time to try to get over him. She met someone else but she's not fully over him. His name is Lon and they met when he was injured in the war. She volunteered at the hospital and he wouldn't take no for an answer. They are engaged now and Noah doesn't know. Will she tell him?
Allie need to tell Noah so she told Lon that she needed to get away to get her mind off something. She left and went to New Bern, North Carolina to find Noah. She went to the house Noah said he was going to fix up. She was surprised how nice it was. He was sitting on the porch when she pulled into the driveway. The look on his face was astonishing.......

I rate this book a 10/10.

Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber (finished)

I just finished this book over this past week.

Raven lives down the street from a mysterious mansion on top of Benson Hill. One day a family moves in and they have a son, Alexander Sterling. They never come out of the house during the day. Who are these people? What are they? People in the town are talking about them. They are wondering what is with them. Is the town gossip true?
Raven's lifelong dream is to be a vampire. Can they make her dream come true? Will they? Raven is the only person who knows about them.
It was a really good book. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes mysterious books. I rate this book a 9/10.
