This week in The Throne of Fire things go bad already for Carter, Sadie, Jaz, and Walt. Immediatly after they take the scroll from the statue everythings comes to life in the Egyptian exibit. The scroll bursts into flames and gets stuck on Sadie's hand. But the flames do not hurt. A griffin comes to life and attack the group. But that is not the only problem. Some mysterious flame figures known as the Seven Arrows of Sekhmet. The arrow figures fly around the museum knocking out party guests from the wedding inside the museum. Walt gets hit by one and his eyes turn white and becomes unconsious. Jaz heals him with some magic but drains most of her energy. Carter tries to control the griffin because they are both followers of Horus, the new king god. Now to stop the seven arrows Jaz has to sacrifice herself to get ride of them. Before Jaz collapses she gives Sadie a wax statue of Carter and says that Sadie will need it soon. She enters a coma but saves everyone. Carter controls the griffin and ties a rope around the griffins neck. Walt, who is a charm maker, uses his boat charm and ties the rope to the boat. Carter, Sadie, Jaz, and Walt all escape with the scroll and return safely to their safehouse. Sadie gets the scroll removed by her friend Bass who it the cat goddess.
This is where I ended. I think this book has already started out fantastic and already full of action. But for what cost? I just learned about Jaz a chapter before and now she might already die? Also the little statue Jaz gave Sadie; I wonder what this will reveal.
Good review! Rick Riordan is one of my favorite authors. Although I would advise trying to avoid short, brief sentences that can be confusing and try to get more of a flow going.
